Search for the Titanic
Narrated by Orson Welles. A must for movie and Titanic buffs because it holds the record for the shortest run; playing one weekend and closing for lack of box office interest. Art on the video box was adapted from an original poster illustration for the movie by Ken Marschall. This expedition took place before there was world-wide Titanic fascination and before Dr Ballard and his team of American and French scientists found the wreck in 1985. Ballard and THS President Bill Tantum began their quest in 1977. When Tantum died in 1980, finding the ship was put on hold and another group searched. This is their story as scientists and film makers battle hurricane-force winds and mountainous seas in a herculean attempt to discover the Titanic. Orson Welles describes a fascinating journey when sonar indicated a metallic object on the ocean floor. Color 109 minutes.
